Life IS okay and I'm doing quite fine thank you

Friday was a good day. Not a perfect or an ideal day but a good day nonetheless. It was one of those days that remind you that you are on the right path whether its career, personal or whatever. A day that reminds you that you are a good decent person and people appreciate you and what you do. Thats what my Friday was. Nothing big but the little things can speak volumes. And its amazing how much better the day is when the negative energy is tuned out (can't really go into what that energy is and why....but lets say it can really weigh me down)

I was a bit more assertive and got flat screen monitors in my office (new ones and a good size-its awesome). Next on the agenda? A good color printer for the office-a new one would be preferred....Then an over haul on our network internet system.....Oh yes I have plans....

The TL Savings and Loan's is back in business (family nickname for my savings and later checking acct-I don't spend my money....) so I can pay for my Aprilla scooter and I got me an Ipod nano in blue (once in awhile one should spend money on frivolous things for themselves....)

I finished a sock! So two pairs of hand knitted socks!

The baby Kimono is going along quite well (although I should have thought of the whole curling with stockinette....oh well)

I'm making another friend--there is a young gal that is an intern for my Dept and I met her yesterday and she lives in my apt complex. She asked outright if I had a TV and if she could watch a motorcycle race tomorrow afternoon. She's a biker chick-owns her own very fast bike-crotch rocket is the term.....

I am getting a 1915 edition of Little Women from a from a friend of mine and mom's. She has decided that I am her deserving female 'family' member to pass these items too. I already got a pendent from her. This book was given to her by her mom. And what's even better is that this is one of mine (and D-fly's) favorite books-we have read this many many times.

And a current friend-my companionship is all that is wanted....doesn't expect anything more even though he schleps me all over (including this coming Tues to the eye doctor). Feel quite valued as a person for that.....So I'm giving him a plant. Actually its a cutting off a plant that still is at the parents house (and one of the ones that a now very big Tubble has squished....) Been growing these two and another one for a few years. These two were really stretching their pot so time to transplant. Look how nice it looks--minute later a certain Felix pulled one of the succulents right out.....Brat.

And my next adventure? Hand-dyeing yarn with kool-aid....why? I don't know.... But there will be pictures! And you and you probably will inherit some of the experiments.....I have a feeling that this won't be a one time deal and I will get much fun out of it.....

Well I hope you have a good day like my Friday! Craft on y'all

So I was good for a week....

I did not cast on any new projects after I finished the Clapotis all week (and trust me I have a few waiting in the wings). I worked on my travel sock during commute time (and it now has a heel)

And I worked on this scarf. I started it last year but it got set aside for other projects...Its for a cousin but I rarely see or hear from her that I'm not in a rush to get it done but still should get done....Well this past week I was a good girl and I did work on it

Except now I want to make these super adorable baby Kimono sweaters and D-fly Sis and Cami found me this lovely verigated yarn and I just had to cast on one of them....Have to make sure its done in time and to make perhaps matching booties and hats....

And D-fly saw this lost lonely skein of yarn and she couldn't leave it behind....so it too will become a hat and booty set

And of course the enabler she is-D-fly sent along some more sock yarn....so vibrant and plumlicious. Jitterbug sock yarn

And then I participated in a swap via Ravelry with the Monty Python group....I got a coffee themed group. Brown DK Encore yarn with blue flecks (really like those flecks in there....), tiger eye beads and blue shell beads and of course coffee....can't be coffee themed w/o the coffee....

And for my swappie- I went with a rainbow theme....Northernlights - Bearfoot by Mountain Colors and rainbow stitch markers.

And now for non-knitting related news....I did my good deed for the day today. With some help, I was able to return two very friendly puppy dogs to their rightful owners. These dogs were so super friendly and playful and beautiful that I could not stand them not being returned. However, this town is so human orientated. No concern for the safety of the pets only of the humans. So maddening... Least in this case the dogs were thought of first. Dad and daughter were quite happy to see their rambunctious duo back

The weekly ramble....

I actually finished something! A knitted something! Thats right the Clapotis is complete, blocked, dried, and ready to wear. It indeed up being a long one (7 feet exact) but it wraps around me quite nicely and it condenses down enough that it makes a very nice scarf for more 'casual' outings.

And since I haven't been having too much problems with being car sick on the commute bus....I'm making good progress on the second travel sock (sorry no current pics, perhaps next week). This is good cause I will be doing a Nutkins KAL via Ravelry next month and of course I have my Tendril Embrace socks from my March edition of Keegan Lane Yarns Spring Flick '08 sock club (and two more patterns and yarn coming).... Then there are those Jaywalkers with yarn a certain enabler sent me.... And then starting in May I will be getting yarn for the Punk Sock Club via Lotus Yarns (sign up is on her blog)
Good thing is that next month I will be in Burbank for an Archaeology conference (which I need to write a paper for and present! Egads! In front of professionals! Lets just say I'm a bit freaked out....) and there will be lots of sitting and listening to talks, perfect knitting time of socks.....

And for other related knitty items.....been busy in my other craft adventures. Promised Sis some teeny stitch markers after she liked Cami's so well and I finally got them done....and even made a pretty card to go with. Tigger Tiger liked the sparkley brads.

In the process of making something for my Monty Python secret swapper so I can't show what I made for her yet.....

And just for fun-a picture of my Felix who likes to be near his human mama that he will curl up in my bag when I'm at the computer. Actually today he decided to lie in the middle of what I'm doing.....

Oh how oh how will all this yarn become socks?

Yep I got one sock done....and the toe of second one. I take forever to knit socks.....'sigh' and I got all this sock yarn..... Did a beaded ribbing cause it looked interesting....not a very tight ribbing but since I decided on a shorty sock....it works just fine

And my enabler Sis signed me up for a Spring Fling Sock Club with the Keegan Lane Yarns for my birthday. Already got the first month of sock yarn with pattern... (Came with this cute little stitch marker and this pink punk notion bag plus some other goodies--Felix was quite pleased with the plastic egg)

This Fearless Fiber yarn I think could very well become knee highs--seriously a lot of yarn in one skein and with my skinny ass feet and my stick legs....

Got Brickhouse and Imagine....gorgeous rich colors

I also got some more stripey sock yarn.....First two are Regia

And the third really isn't a color I don't think I would have gotten but I wanted some thing different from all my other sock yarns.....so what the hey.....but y'all will have to wait on a pic on that one cause Blogger here decided to have an error in trying to load pictures....

Been another long week and this week won't be shaping up to be any better... A lot of work and something else really weighing on my mind that I can't do much about except wait....
Okay thats all...time for bed-have a busy busy day at work tomorrow (but my friend has a real bagel for me tomorrow so that will be a little bonus--yep it was a pumpernickel-best I think I ever had....)

Adding and editing--Monday March 10th cause well I was fadin last nite so not sure what I really wrote.....

Not sure how to classify this past week...

First off I got in touch with my redneck self by going to a NASCAR race--yep I and a friend skipped out a half day of work on Monday to go see the race. It actually was left over from the previous Saturday but they had so much rain that it got postponed to Monday and since he already had tickets.....Never been to any type of car race and everything worked out so why not? It was a fun way to start the week.

Then on Wednesday I got new wires on my teeth and now my chewing ability has been compromised....not in nearly in as much pain as I was....
Had another not so happy thing happen too which ruined my mood on Thursday but not going to discuss here...but lets say the yarn that D-fly sent me took the edge off....

Gorgeous mohair--I don't know how to describe the color but I LUV it. It will become some type of wrap based on this pattern by Astridknits. Will be adding irridescent black beads cause well I think it should.... (btw for a better look at the colors in this yarn-click on the pic to see a larger view)
Oh the joy of Ravelry....

Then Regia in this candy colored rainbow cause she's trying to tell me that I need to do toe-up Jaywalkers.....evil enabler that she is.....but sock yarn does not count as stash.

I did get to have some fun on Thur at work... Tim has been bugging me daily for a skull....now legally this can not be done but when you have a mother who is crafty and well not your typical mom....one can come up with a plan to 'create' a skull.....She made one a long time ago which we used one year to create a haunted car (it was a hit that year in our neighborhood).

Thought one like it would be perfect and she was able to find online, order, paint up and send (crafty non-typical moms are a good thing to have). She even got a mate for her original skull. I included a note saying "From the dusty corners of a far off land, I come to you so that I can help ponder the great mysteries of life oh Great One....."
The skull was a perfect surprise and he is thrilled with his 'find'

Starting up on getting comfortable with the whole driving thing today. A co-worker has agreed to help me out on Saturdays since she teaches a lab course on Saturdays at the local community college so she's already in the neighborhood. And she already told me that I'm fine just need to be more comfortable and thats exactly right.

And the knitting magic continues.....(I really am amazed what two sticks and strings can create....) I have a heel on another sock! Look at that!

And no the Clapotis is not long enough (its 61 or so inches at the moment)....I know you thing I'm nuts to keep knitting it but I want it to be long enough that I can dramatically wrap it around me.....

And just to gloat a bit....Its spring here. Actually its nice having the almond tree outside my window-blooming trees are one of my favorite things of spring and don't get too many of those in a desert.....

And one last thing if you are still reading that is....I'm going to advertise a band, SweetSize granted they only play locally in S CA but they are fun-punk/reggae/rock...Its Tim's son and son-in-law's band and I finally checked them out via their MySpace page. Only have a few songs on there but I think they are all good.....
(Btw--if you like them, they are on iTunes....)
